Fitted with D rings and ready to hang.
The reference photo for this painting was taken several years beforehand in Boughton on the Water. There were a couple of resident parrots whizzing around the place while we were eating our lunch so, naturally I spent a lot of time juggling between my sandwiches and my camera. At least I managed to keep biting the right one!
When I processed the shots from that holiday there were a couple of photos of these parrots that struck me hard enough to say, “One day I’m going to have a go at painting these.” This was one of them.
Until this point I had never really ‘clicked’ with painting. My best work was always produced using black ink pointillism, so I kind of knew that “one day” would be some time off yet … and it was. It finally arrived during the first Covid Lockdown and I count myself very lucky to have been in a position to do this during such a horrible time for many people. I had time on my hands and was able to focus well enough to work on this until I was happy with the result. I tried to capture the energy and freedom the parrot displayed while we were there and this is the one that got me hooked on painting.
