New Beginning

This painting holds a lot of meaning for me as it marks a change of direction in my life that was brought about by the turmoil of a life-threatening illness.  It represents the start of my recovery with the light beginning to appear in what was a pretty dark, difficult and messy time for me.  The support of my family was invaluable and the seeds of hope for better days ahead started to take root.  It wasn’t pretty and it took a long time to get to where I am now, but part of that challenge was in letting go of my old life (including a career I had loved), my way of thinking (to some degree) and opening myself up to new possibilities.  So the perfectionist in me, that loves to create realism in my art, took a back seat and I began to explore the abstract.

I painted this from the heart and it now reminds me of where I was, how I was feeling and to be thankful for the good things in my life because they can and will pull you through.
