Acrylic Gallery

Acrylic paint changed my whole approach to art during the first Covid lockdown when I finally had the time and the motivation to break into a set of paints that someone had bought me a couple of years earlier.

Suddenly I had colour in my artistic life! Until now my focus had always been the ‘labour of love’ required for my pointillism drawings, but acrylics opened a whole new world for me. I’m not saying that I hadn’t tried painting before, I was just never happy with the results and I envy anyone who makes using watercolours look so easy! I just believed painting was never going to be my thing. Thankfully I was wrong and I’m so happy about it!

It’s a complete contrast to how I work with pointillism but I feel a sense of freedom in being able to ‘build’ the whole image (see video) without having to start in one spot, make it perfect and work outwards from there. It’s a learning curve and always will be, but it’s a lot of fun!
